On April 13th, the UHC Foundation held its Annual Spring Gala in Fresno. More than 315 guests from throughout the Central Valley attended the evening affair at Tornino’s Banquets. Special guests included CA Assemblymember Dr. Joaquin Arambula (D-Fresno), John Anderson, who is the 12thDistrict Field Representative for CA Senator Anthony Cannella (R-Ceres) and Matt Rogers, the Central Valley Representative for U.S. Senator Kamala Harris.

The 2018 Spring Gala featured a program emceed by KMPH Fox 26 Great Day Co-Host Kopi Sotiropulos, who also rallied attendants for his 10-Day Forecast segment. UHC President and CEO, Colleen Curtis, as well as, UHC Foundation Board Chair, Jose Plascencia, gave welcoming remarks. Guests enjoyed dinner and music played by Sanger Violinist Patrick Contreras. Fresno City Council President, Esmeralda Soria, served as guest speaker. She recognized the importance of Federally Qualified Health Centers and the positive impact made by UHC in our rural communities.

Proceeds raised in the Spring Gala support the UHC Foundation’s Community Programs. The YMCA Summer Camp, Prom Treasures and UHC Transportation benefit people of all ages living in the communities UHC serves. Donors saw the impact these Community Programs make in our patients’ lives and graciously gave to benefit the UHC Foundation's efforts. The event raised more than $68,000 net which will enable the  UHC Foundation to continue making a positive difference in underserved communities.

YMCA Camp Director Simon Helyer also spoke. He praised the continued relationship between UHC and YMCA, as well as, the UHC Foundation’s commitment to making a difference in the lives of youth by sponsoring children and teenagers to camp every summer.

Steve Godfryd, from the Pacific Auction Company, conducted the live auction in which bidders won cruises and getaways to renowned destinations, including the Caribbean, Bermuda and Los Cabos. Silent auction items included rare and unique art pieces, while a dessert auction featured a fine array of pastries. A lively crowd danced the night away to tunes by DJ’s ETC to close another successful Spring Gala.
